Check your inbox, Fable 2 CE DLC codes have been emailed

If you haven't recently checked your inbox and registered for the Fable 2 Collector's Edition DLC offer, then we advise doing an inbox check this very moment. Reason being, Microsoft just emailed the DLC redemption codes to those who already registered.

If you recall, Microsoft forgot to place the CE exclusive DLC redemption code cards in some copies of the Fable 2 CE, which caused lots of commotion and angry customers. So, team Microsoft setup a website to allow those CE purchasers who didn't get their redemption code a chance to receive the content via registration on the website. And to those who gamed the system, registered for the DLC and never owned the CE, we think the email's opening sentence says it all. "Accept the consequences of your actions" ... mmkay?

BIG Fable 2 announcement coming next week

In an effort to steal our gaming attention, Lionhead just posted a new blog teasing that next week will bring a BIG Fable 2 announcement.

"I dare say it's a big announcement regarding Fable II, next week!" says the teasing blog, which can only logically be referring to one thing ... Fable 2 DLC. That's if logic holds true. It's either DLC or some sort of big announcement telling us that they'll be releasing a game patch that'll make those Pub Games cheaters' copies of Fable 2 start on fire the next time the game is loaded. Wouldn't that be fun?

Claim your Fable 2 DLC redemption codes

As was promised, Lionhead and Microsoft have setup a method for those Fable II CE purchasers who didn't receive the redemption code to get their promised DLC. Silly game packaging mixups.

To claim your free Fable II DLC code, simply head over to the support page and enter your Windows Live ID here. Once filled out and submitted, Microsoft will email your Fable II DLC redemption code within' five business days. Easy as cake! But don't drag your feet too long, because this offer is only available until December 31st. Oh, and don't try to scam the system ...

Fable II glitch fix completed, missing DLC codes resolved later today

Good news and bad news. Good first, that Fable II "Abbot Quest Glitch" that borked your save game of the recently released Lionhead RPG has been completed! Bad news, Lionhead doesn't know when the patch will be released to players. Lionhead community manager Sam Van Tilburgh confirmed [via Kotaku] the team has been hard at work fixing a number of issues players have revealed on the official Fable II message boards and promises the biggest issues -- such as the Abbot Quest -- have been resolved.

Van Tilburgh has also confirmed the problem with missing DLC codes for special in-game content, which was included in the Fable II Collector's Edition will be resolved sometime today but was scare on details. As an apology to gamers who have been hit with either issue, Lionhead will post redemption codes for Fable II Pub Games on its blog so players can download the XBLA title for free.

Kind of a strange way to distribute the codes, sure. But free is free. Unless you already bought it. Or got it for free from pre-ordering. Hey, imagine you pre-ordered the Collector's Edition? That's like getting slapped twice, just saying.

You can score a free $10 gift card and mini strategy guide with purchase of Fallout 3 (CE), a free $15 iTunes gift card with purchase of Guitar Hero World Tour and a free t-shirt with Legendary. Phew ... happy shopping!

Video: Inside Xbox at the Fable II launch event in Toronto, Canada

Last week X3F was lucky enough to attend the Canadian launch of Fable II for the Xbox 360 in Toronto, Canada. While throwing back a few brews, invited members of the Xbox community in Canada were able to play through the retail version of the game a week before its release. Canadian Xbox 360 owners connected to Live are now able to see some highlights from the event on Inside Xbox -- including interviews with (a mid-flu) Xav de Matos and our friend DjDatz. Non-Canadian members of the community are invited to check out the video above and see exactly what alcohol can do to some Canadians. Think of it as a Fable II promo and a public service announcement ... all rolled into one.

Reminder: Win Fable II

Hey kids, don't forget that you still have a few precious hours to enter for your chance to win Fable II. We've got one collector's edition to give out as well as five crummy ol' regular editions too. Entering is as easy as sneezing on someone you dislike. In fact, it's even easier (and less messy). All you have to do is head over to the official giveaway post and follow the directions. See? Easy! Now go do it, the giveaway ends today at 5:00pm eastern.

Fable II players report game breaking glitch

We've been receiving reports from several gamers -- and the Lionhead forums are positively buzzing -- about a game breaking glitch in Fable II. The glitch occurs during the quest called "Monk's Quest," in which players are tasked with speaking to the Abbot of the Temple of Light in Oakfield. Apparently, if players run into the temple, begin the conversation with the Abbot, and then leave the region before the conversation is finished, they are be unable to resume the quest, thus preventing them from completing the main story. Lionhead is currently working on the issue and advises all players to make sure to finish the conversation and cut scene before leaving the area. At the moment there is no fix for those who have already encountered the glitch.

Another glitch discovered in the game causes those who take one of their heroes into co-op with another player starting a new game. Apparently, when leaving childhood, all experience and gold will be wiped from the co-op character. Lionhead hopes to address this glitch in a title update, but advises players to only play co-op after the childhood stage has been completed.

Industry vets sound off on sex, violence, ratings and design

Peter Molyneux, Greg Zeschuk, Cliff Bleszinski and David Jaffe are four of the industries most respected, creative developers working today and also have the distinction of creating some of the industry's most controversial titles. From the over-the-top violence in Gears of War to the sexual content found in Mass Effect, this quintet of creators know their way around industry hot-buttons.

Over the past few months the team at the content knowledge site What They Play have interviewed each of the creators for their distinctive views on the sex, violence, ratings and design in videogames.

"If the blood is graphic, exploding out and all over the screen, you instantly know you're successful. I'd use flowers and confetti but I don't think it would be nearly as effective," Bleszinski said of the violence level found in the upcoming Gears of War 2. "You know, there's a huge M on the freaking box. If your eight year-old kids can acquire $60 and you're not aware what they're doing with it, you've got bigger problems than your kid playing God of War. You're a sh*tty parent," adds Jaffe.

BioWare president Greg Zeschuk, whose 2007 role-playing title Mass Effect was lambasted by the mainstream media for its sexual content, pointed out how our society is dictating content. "It's all obviously a reflection on society," says Zeschuk. "The bottom line is that violence is just more acceptable than sexual content in the U.S., which makes an interesting situation for game developers. You have to really balance these tolerances."

Check out the entire feature at What They Play and let us know what you think about sex, violence, ratings and design of videogames in the comments.

Pirates raid Xbox release calendar, leak Gears 2 & Fallout 3 among others

It looks like the Xbox 360 is trying to take the piracy crown from PC gaming. Dirty, filthy pirates have leaked copies of the Xbox 360's recently released Fable II and upcoming Fallout 3, Gears of War 2 and even more titles we don't care to list. We're bringing it up because it's news -- and we keep getting a pile of tips about the leaks -- but know that we're just as mad!

All we can do is sit back and hope that they'll trip up and attempt to connect to live and Microsoft initiates "Operation Red Ring of Death" on their disrespectful butts. But, it's cool. We'll buy it and play it legit because we're real gamers and real gamers respect the games we want by throwing down hard earned cash. So, what does that make pirates? Infinitely worse than ninjas. It's a loser by association thing.

Note: We will not post links to these available downloads and any user who attempts to in the comments (or post spoilers) will have their comment deleted and find themselves served with a hefty banhammer.

Lionhead forum users complain of Fable II freezing issues

According to forum posters on the official Lionhead forums, Fable II is experiencing issues and constantly locks up. The majority of the comments point to the game experiencing issues when attempting to load a save game file although some claim to have issues even loading the game for the first time. While we cannot say if the problem is widespread, we wonder if the recently released online co-op patch may have something to do with it considering we did not have any issues pre-patch. Of course any speculation now would be ... well, just that ... speculation. We are currently awaiting an official comment from Microsoft or Lionhead regarding the situation. Of course we must ask, have you experienced issues with Fable II freezing?

[Thanks, KoAlex87]

We've gathered up a sample of the areas you'll visit in Albion -- not all of them, there have to be some surprises after all -- and collected them into a handy guide for prospective travellers.
